The piece I did on Joerg who flew in from South Africa is a good example of how much I underestimated this blog thing when I started it…I guess I just had no idea of what to expect in the beginning and to be able to just show some of my work online was exciting enough…

Joerg first got in touch with me through the appointment’s page on the blog a few weeks ago saying that he had seen an elbow piece I had done last year in Sao Paulo and since he was going to be in Tokyo if it was possible for him to get tattooed while in town… we exchanged a few e-mails and the next thing I know I’m tattooing him at my Tokyo studio while Led Zeppelin sets the mood for the session…I know that I must sound like I just came from a farm in the middle of nowhere but as I tattooed him I couldn’t help thinking on how incredible this is.
I mean , while for a lot,lot of people communicating , planning , organizing ,etc…using the internet is something so trivial and not worth commenting on , for me it is NOT….I just started and I still love the TELEPHONE….and while my “virtual world” keeps growing and demanding more and more of my time the real world is still there…places to go,people to see…
Anyways , all the time and energy I have been spending on my blog are not only worth it but also fun…and that’s what matters…as Joerg left my studio ready to enjoy life with his elbow piece I felt more and more sure about it…

Looks awesome, Joerg. My compliments to the tatoo artist. I particularly like the way the dark-coloured skin wrinkles post-hoc. Was the experience painful?

Dear Jun
Haha! Joerg cracked the local nod-of-approval when a random stranger in Shinjuku gave him the “thumbs up” sign and pointed to the tat, in all its raw glory.
Observing part of the process makes me marvel at how you can plan something so essentially 3-dimensional (considering the shapes and lines of someone’s body) on a flat piece of paper.
Wow.
I still hope to get mine in a few years…
Rock on!
A
PS, Alastair… Little black flakes of tattooed skin fell off and got stuck in my carpet as a reminder of Joerg’s visit. Funny!

Jeez Buddy - you didn’t pussyfoot around there. No half-measures. Looks good though.
We must catch up some time.
